Greenbelt today, residential and commercial in 2026. Tap any shape for details.
The red hatch is greenbelt. 395 acres of wetland and critical natural area inside what the Town wants to annex. New Castle County designates 94% of it Resource Preservation, where county policy is to discourage development and incentivize preservation. Townsend’s 2026 plan marks it residential and commercial.
Proposed annexation areas: Town of Townsend ArcGIS Online, Annexed 10 Year Phase – Parcels and Annexation Parcels. These are the parcels shown hatched as “Future Annexation Areas (2026)” on the Town's Future Land Use & Growth and Annexation Areas map dated 04/01/2026.
Proposed land use for each parcel was read from that same Town map. Current zoning is New Castle County's. Wetlands, natural areas and municipal boundaries are Delaware FirstMap. Annexation records are the Delaware Office of State Planning Coordination.
Parcel numbers and owner of record are public New Castle County records. Each parcel number links to the county's own parcel page, where the same information and the assessment are published. Owner of record is the name on the county roll and says nothing about whether that owner supports or opposes annexation.
